Make your headlines attractive by treating them like graphics. Unusual fonts, drop shadows, large first letters are all easy ways to make your headline into a graphic element. You can do this to capture your readers attention and draw them into your spread.

Great tip!  Also make sure you have some consistency throughout the yearbook...Pick a few headline fonts and stick with them!  This year we picked 4 or 5 great Medival fonts off of dafonts and used them throughout.

Your page layout titles could also fit into the theme of your book, brining everything nicely together.

For example, take the general theme of music; now think of your favorite songs, artist etc . . . and take a snippet of the lyric or use the title itself to create your page layout headline.

Examples:

My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade - “Lets shout it loud and clear.”   This would make an excellent title for a sports page, perhaps Cheerleading.

Gnarls Barkley - Smiley Faces lyrics – “Smiley Faces, what do you say?”   This would be a creative title for your portrait sections.

Ray Charles – Let The Good Times Roll – “Let the good times roll.”  This would work nicely on a candid page, perhaps a frosh week or grade 9 day layout.

Or the nursery rhyme “Row row row your boat” you could incorporate this into the Rowing club page or Concrete canoe contest.

And my personal favorite -   Are You Ready For Some Football?”  This comes from the Monday night NFL tune.
